Thanks John & Sophie Wilkes of Branching Out Nursery for letting me photograph your beautiful trees and fruit! It’s the best orchard I’ve been to in the Wood River Valley. See for yourself, here on the cover is an apple I picked and photographed. Be sure to look for orchard photos and read about John’s tips for tasty apples starting on page 32. http://issuu.com/xpub/docs/habitat

The Good Life
Sun Valley Guide’s HABITAT Magazine 2011
Over 30 years, Evelyn and Jim Phillips have created a portrait in sustainable living at the mouth of Quigley Canyon near Hailey. From vegetable gardens to chickens to solar panels, their lifestyle is an enviable experiment we can all learn from.
And they didn’t even know they were doing it.

Sun Valley Magazine Summer/Fall 2010: The Art of Food
Hopefully you have all seen the cover of the Sun Valley Magazine Summer/Fall 2010 issue. I love the matte finish that they decided to use with my peach image, it really makes you feel as though you can touch the peach fuzz! While looking at the digital edition of the magazine online be sure to turn to page 82 to enjoy my exploration of the colors, textures and flavors of food grown in Idaho. Yes, a lot more than just potatoes are grown here! The entire Edible Idaho issue is amazing so be sure to grab a cup of coffee or a nice glass of wine sit back and enjoy learning about all the wealth of chefs, farmers and producers in Idaho.
Sun Valley Magazine held the launch party for this issue at Sego Restaurant & Bar in Ketchum, Idaho. There was an exclusive showing of my The Art of Food photos for this event. I had JONDO print the images from the cover story onto 24″x32″ wrapped canvas. These images look amazing printed on canvas! The printers did an excellent job with representing the true colors of these photos. I am glad to know they enjoyed printing these images as much as I enjoyed having them print them – here’s a fun post on their blog about The Art of Food images. I will be displaying these images at galleries in the future, so if you have any recommendations for this traveling collection please let me know.

Portland Farmers Market
Indeed the best farmers market that I have been to! Sorry Moss Street Market in Victoria, B.C. you are right behind them in a very close second place. After having a fabulous and stimulating week attending the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) annual conference which included me doing a presentation for photographers and stylist’s about Online Portfolios on Wednesday I was really in need of some rejuvenation. For some it’s sleep, some reading a book as they lay in a hammock, for me it’s disappearing in a market like this with my camera. Enjoy my photographic journey of the Portland Farmers Market at PSU.
I really try to edit down photos before posting so that it’s not so overwhelming, but the response to the photos above has been so outstanding that I thought why should I be the only one enjoying them. Why not share more? After all it just seems to bring smiles to everyones face. Enjoy and thanks to all the wonderful farmers, growers and producers that provided such great subject matter!
Butchery Class
Lava Lake Lamb held their first butchery class in Hailey, Idaho this past January. Below is short video I put together about the class. Be sure to checkout Northwest Food News, to hear Guy’s Hand’s Edible Idaho show which features this same class.
